our mission

Forte is the only theatre company in Canada exclusively dedicated to the development and performance of musical theatre. Forte provides quality shows that are well performed and entertaining. Forte aims to educate audiences about musical theatre and expose them to a genre of character driven musicals shows not typically produced in Calgary. Forte also creates educational opportunities for children and adults to develop their talents in all aspects of musical theatre.

Forte aims to be a cultural force on the national and international scene. Through quality productions, Forte will build audiences not just for itself, but for other companies in town producing new work. Forte will strive to make new musicals, and by extension, new theatre, accessible to the general audience member. Through great performances in Calgary and, later, in other cities, Forte will be recognized as a leader in developing and producing new Canadian musicals. Recognizing a shortage of trained musical theatre professionals, Forte aims to develop performers, directors, stage managers and other creative team members in this genre of theatre.
